Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT) in London and Online Across the UK
Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT) is a leading-edge, embodied trauma therapy designed to address the root causes of emotional distress and long-standing psychological wounds.
AIT starts from the idea that trauma is held in the body, not only in the memory. We talk, as you would expect. We then work with the body to release what the talking has reached but not shifted. Drawing on a holistic approach, AIT helps you process and integrate difficult memories, beliefs, and patterns that may be holding you back.
I offer AIT sessions in-person in Central London and remotely for clients anywhere in the UK, ensuring flexibility and accessibility wherever you are.
What is Advanced Integrative Therapy?
Advanced Integrative Therapy is an embodied trauma therapy developed by Dr Asha Clinton. It sits within the energy psychotherapy family and is used inside a full psychotherapeutic frame, with the same ethical structure as any other therapy.
It is described as integrative because it draws on several traditions at once: the Psychodynamic understanding of early relationships; Cognitive work on beliefs and behaviour; Transpersonal work on meaning and finally, Energy psychology, which treats thoughts, feelings and memories as energy that can become blocked.
In practice, that means we go to the root of the difficulty rather than managing it at the surface. AIT treats the original wound, the present problem and the link between the two.

What happens in a session
A session begins with talking. You tell me what is troubling you and we look together at where it started. I follow the emotional charge as it moves.
When we reach the heart of the matter, we put it into a single sentence that captures the focus of the work. You then hold a series of memory centres on your own body while we stay with that sentence. These centres are the places where the charge of an experience tends to be stored.
Depending on what fits, the work may also include:
- bilateral stimulation, mirrored between us
- clearing negative beliefs and putting steadier ones in their place
- intentional phrases that I offer, used with the focus of a mantra
- guided visualisation to build safety before we go near difficult material
We stay with it until the charge eases and you feel the change. Nothing happens without your agreement. You set the pace and you can stop at any point.
You do not have to talk through every detail of what happened. The sentence carries the material, so the work can go deep without you reliving it.

What AIT can help with
Clients come to me for support with:
- trauma, including attachment trauma, PTSD and complex PTSD
- anxiety, depression and long standing negative beliefs
- grief, bereavement and major life change
- relationship patterns that keep repeating
- the emotional impact of acute and chronic illness, including cancer
- physical symptoms that have not responded to medical treatment
- smaller everyday woundings that have quietly shaped how you live
- a search for meaning, direction or spiritual connection
Much of this is territory that talking therapy alone can struggle to reach, which is why many people arrive here having tried something else first.

How AIT fits with the rest of my work
AIT is the modality I have trained in most deeply and the one I return to most often. It sits alongside the other approaches I offer, including tapping in several forms, Radomski’s Ask and Receive, Psychoanalytic Energy Psychotherapy and Invitation to Healing, an approach I developed myself.
Some clients come specifically for AIT. Others prefer that I choose from the range as the work unfolds. Both are fine.
AIT in London or anywhere in the UK
In person sessions are held in central London, near Westminster Bridge Road, SE1, within easy reach of Waterloo and Lambeth North. I also have rooms in Clapham Junction and Surbiton. Online sessions by Zoom are available UK wide.
Certified AIT practitioners are thinly spread, even in a city the size of London. If you are outside travelling distance, working online removes that as an obstacle. The exercises are ones you carry out on your own body, so nothing is lost over video.

Arrange a free consultation
If you would like to talk it over first, I offer a free 10 minute telephone consultation with no obligation. It is a chance to describe what is going on and ask whether AIT is likely to suit you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is AIT safe?
Yes. Tapping and holding body centres might feel unfamiliar the first time. The therapeutic frame is what creates the safety. All my work is done within a recognisable therapeutic context. I am a member of the BACP and abide by its code of ethics.
Before we go near difficult material, I help you build resources to hold you steady. For example this might include helping you create an internalised safe space, or a healing circle you can return to.
How is AIT different from ordinary talking therapy?
Much of it will feel familiar. We make connections between past and present and we talk about where you want to get to. What differs is what happens next. Rather than circling a difficulty for weeks, we take it to the body and release the charge held there. Clients often notice a physical shift within the session itself.
How does AIT compare with EMDR?
They have a good deal in common. Both are embodied trauma therapies used inside a psychotherapeutic framework, both start from the understanding that trauma is held in the body, and both are useful with flashbacks, body memories and nightmares.
The mechanism differs. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation through eye movement and focuses on a specific memory or set of memories. AIT works with memory centres in the body and with a sentence that captures the focus of the work. EMDR is well established for single incident trauma. AIT can be used for single incidents and for complex trauma. I am not an EMDR practitioner, and some clients come to me having done useful EMDR work and wanting to build on it.
Can AIT help with physical illness?
AIT is not a medical treatment and does not replace medical care. It work well with the emotional complexities that come with a chronic condition.
I have particular experience of working with cancer, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/ CFS), and Long Covid.
I also see clients who approach me to work with illnesses that are not responding to medical interventions.
Do I need to believe in energy for this to work?
No. Scepticism is welcome and common. I am not working with a particular ideology. I invite you to try the exercises and see what happens. What matters is your willingness to try the exercises and notice what happens.
Does AIT work as well online as in person?
Yes. I find all the techniques transfer well from in-person to online. Any breathing exercise or embodied interventions are ones you carry out yourself , so the process works well over video. I work with clients across the UK via Zoom.
Where are you based?
In person sessions are held in Central London, at a location on Westminster Bridge Road, SE1. This is close to Lambeth North tube station and Waterloo station. I also have rooms in Clapham Junction and Surbiton. Online sessions are available nationally and internationally. My insurance coves me to work with people inside and outside the UK.
